- 02Hello! My name is Bruce. I am currently serving on the CSRPOA Board as the Director of Information Technology (IT). Since 2018, I have called this community home and have previously served on the Board of Directors. I am a combat veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during Operation Iraqi Freedom, including a tour in direct support of that operation. During my military service, I was selected for special duty as the sole enlisted computer administrator for over 450 members of the 60th Civil Engineering Squadron, where I was responsible for IT support, server administration, systems management, and maintaining the technology infrastructure essential to daily operations. That role required leadership, reliability, technical expertise, and the ability to keep critical systems functioning in demanding conditions. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Electrical Engineering Technology and bring more than 25 years of information technology experience. Over the years, I have worked in IT infrastructure, website design, technology systems management, and E-Commerce giving me the skills to support dependable digital systems, improve communication, and strengthen access to important community information. I believe strong communities are built through transparency, accountability, and teamwork. My goal for the association is to help improve communication, support practical and effective solutions, and continue serving our community with professionalism and commitment.
- 03After completing college and military service I went on work on the oil rigs, and I was able to travel to many corners of the world. I have founded and led businesses across three continents; including start-ups, joint ventures and restructurings, and served as a senior leader in corporate marketing and research & development roles. I believe my business experience has been relevant to the POA, with one caveat - this is an entirely volunteer organization, and the effort by the volunteer staff has been outstanding. As president, I have encouraged all board members to work freely and according to their own convictions, in support of all interests of our community. My vision for the POA is that it should fulfill its chartered duties without overreach, operate on a low budget but stay debt-free, and maintain its existing facilities for the members.
- 04I am wanting to run for the 2026-2027 year I care about this Neighborhood and want to continue to serve it Thanks for helping!

- 07Banking/finance career started in 1974 until 2000. Worked on Homeowner’s Board in Houston for 4 years. Been a volunteer working with new Board for Canyon Springs Resort since September, 2025. I want to see our POA operate in the open and not in secret as it was with the prior board. I would like to see more people involved so we can restore and maintain the clubhouse and park grounds for everyone to enjoy. The new Board has been restoring operations with good business practices and adhering to the Articles and By-Laws and Texas Property Codes. There is more work to be done from a business perspective, finances restored with delinquent accounts brought current, the physical structure of the clubhouse and grounds improved and community involvement raised to a higher level. I want to thank those members who have helped with various projects. It has been a pleasure.
- 08My name is Jim McCain. I currently serve on the Canyon Springs Resort POA board as Second Vice President and Secretary. I have been a member of our Property Owners Association since 2020. After completion of an enlistment tour of duty in the U. S. and Korea with Honorable Discharge from the U.S Army, I returned to Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) and completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. I have more than 50 years sales and marketing experience in Industrial and Municipal Equipment technical sales for the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities and related collection, transmission and distribution pipelines. I established and operated a Manufacturer’s Representative organization for 20 + years headquartered in San Antonio with sales representatives in Houston and Dallas serving customers for the states of Texas and Oklahoma. On my retirement the company was purchased by and continues profitable operation by the Vice-President without any loss in existing employees. During my working career I was selected to serve multiple terms on the Executive Boards of the Texas Water Utilities Association and the Texas Municipal Utilities Association. Serving this past year on the board has been a very positive experience. We have been able to make significant progress in financial management with the development of a balanced budget, debt collection, volunteer projects and facilities maintenance and improvement. If elected I will continue to work with the Board to continue the progress made this past year.
- 09I, Jim Stovall, am a true “local” Canyon Lake resident. My parents started bringing us camping at the lake in 1970. My family then moved to the lake in 1974. I would catch a bus for school about 6:00 a.m. heading for Canyon High School located in New Braunfels before the first Smithson Valley High School was built in 1976, on FM 311. I have lived at and around Canyon Lake for the most part of 50 years. I have been a member of the Canyon Springs Resort Property Owners’ Association for over 40 of those years. I raised my family in this very neighborhood and, being self-employed, successfully operated and owned a construction company during those years. So, I have seen this area grow from a very small rural community to the continuous stream of traffic from San Antonio and surrounding areas to Startzville and around the lake beyond Fischer Store. Over the years, I have always trusted our elected officials to make “good choices” and “do the right thing”. But that abruptly came to an end with the 2025 March Newsletter stating that a $250 mandatory assessment was implemented and a Bankruptcy was filed without the members ever being informed by that “Board of Directors”. Even after the $250 mandatory assessment had been voted down on April 25th, the money that had been paid in by the members was used to fund legal fees for paying “their” bankruptcy attorney through September. That Board of Directors completely misrepresented and disregarded the majority of the membership that they were elected to serve. After months of dismay and mayhem, our community pulled together and elected a “sound and credible” new Board of Directors who are in “sync” with the majority voice of our membership. They have worked extremely hard to resolve the chaos that was handed over to them. They have tried over and over to restore common ground and good faith with all members, including their opponents. Even though their opponents do not treat them with the same respect. I believe that I share some of those same ideals that this new, current Board of Directors do and I am asking for the memberships endorsement (vote) to serve on the next Board of Directors of the Canyon Springs Resort Property Owners’ Association. Thank you, Jim Stovall It is better to vote for LESS than 9 candidates that you trust, than to vote for even 1 candidate that you can’t trust. Every members vote does matter. Please vote.
- 10My personal background: Born in Germany with residency in Australia and since 1968 Texas. My work background was in the Audio Visual field in broadcasting and industrial video conferencing. My last few years before retirement involved supporting the oil and gas industry worldwide as an individual contractor for the audio visual requirements in large stereo display applications. I designed and installed several AV boardrooms for corporations (Compaq, Enron, Marathon, Texaco, Chevron, Shell) to name a few. It was fun and challenging. I have always been involved in my local community and am committed to following that path in the future. As Treasurer for the 2025-2026 period, I have been tasked with overseeing the Association’s finances with accuracy and responsibility, safeguarding the community’s resources and supporting sound fiscal management. We are indebted to the finance committee for assisting us in this endeavor. Their work has been invaluable. More recently I have stepped back from the day to day responsibilities as Treasurer to devote more time to my wife’s health needs. I am still active on the board as a director and hope to be more involved in the future. Our current board has done an excellent job in pulling us back from the brink of disaster and following a more community friendly path, encouraging all property owners to be involved without fear of negative behavior. You might have noticed that meetings are more open and engaging. This has been greatly influenced from the top down in pulling the board of directors together into a unit with a common goal in mind: • Community Spirit toward a common goal. Hopefully there will be more volunteerism. It does take a village to accomplish most things! • Accessibility for everyone. There is a new look on the Website (we should thank Bruce Holden for that). We are in the business of information to all property owners via frequent news letters on the website as well as emailed versions, once we have permission from individuals. The future looks great, as long as we adhere to this path! Good positive communication and reasonable goals, without lofty plans only good for the few! • Living within our means (we are not trying to emulate the new mega neighbor hoods with huge budgets and large monthly fees to support that). Thanks for being there for our Community Marzell Klaftenegger
- 11I have lived in the Canyon Lake area since the 1960's. I served as Treasurer of The Oak POA for 3 years in the early 2000's. I was also a lifeguard for CSR. I have owned and operated a successful construction company since 1987. My hope is to help CSRPOA become financially sound and stable.
